For daily-driver Toyotas (Camry, Corolla, RAV4): The basic exterior wash ($80) and basic interior ($90) provide excellent value. Toyota paint is forgiving — our standard two-bucket wash is perfectly safe, and the harder clearcoat resists swirls better than any European brand. Ceramic coating ($450+) on a Toyota is arguably the best ROI in our entire service menu: the coating protects paint that would otherwise last 8–10 years and extends that to 12–15+ years of like-new appearance. For adventure Toyotas (4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra): These need our full detail ($350–$460) after every major trip. Desert clay embeds in paint, salt spray from Baja trips corrodes undercarriage components, and interior contamination is severe. Our add-on services are popular: pet hair removal ($60) for the 4Runner crowd, carpet shampoo ($60) for post-beach/trail cleanup. Paint correction ($250+) is straightforward on Toyota — the thick, hard clearcoat allows aggressive compounding that removes even severe oxidation and scratches. Stage 2 correction on a neglected Tacoma often produces the most dramatic before-after transformations in our portfolio.
COMMON TOYOTA ISSUES IN SAN DIEGO
Toyota-specific issues in San Diego: (1) Tailgate paint failure on Tacomas — the flat, horizontal tailgate bakes in direct sun and develops premature oxidation and sometimes clearcoat failure within 5–7 years. This is the single most common correction request for Tacomas. (2) Plastic trim fading — the black plastic cladding on 4Runners, RAV4s, and Tacomas fades from black to grey within 2–3 years of San Diego UV exposure. Our trim restoration ($70 add-on) uses a heat gun to re-activate the plasticizer, followed by a ceramic trim coating that prevents re-fading for 2+ years. (3) Windshield chip accumulation — the upright windshield angle on 4Runner and Tacoma catches more road debris. Not our service, but we recommend replacement before ceramic coating the glass. (4) Interior dust infiltration on 4Runners with rear window down — the drop-down rear window lets enormous amounts of dust into the cargo area. We see 4Runner interiors with 5x the dust contamination of sedans.
